Connected Educator Month is a U.S. Department of Education’s Connected Educators initiative, coming out of Director of the Office of Educational Technology. The emphasis is on the role of online communities and social learning networks--networks like Classroom 2.0 and Library 2.0 that are "helping hundreds of thousands of educators learn, reducing isolation and providing 'just in time' access to knowledge and opportunities for collaboration." The goal throughout this August is to expose the broader audience of educators and administrators to the benefits of peer professional development.
Learning events will take place all month. Visit Connected Educators for a complete schedule of sessions throughout the month of August.
In addition, a fabulous free Learning 2.0 online conference full of discussions, interaction, new ideas and much more will be held on August 20-24. Gurus in the field of K-12 educational technology will present, participate on panels and help novices learn and those using technology in their classrooms to connect.

New Book -- New Look for the Blog
My new book Using Web 2.0 and Social Networking Tools in the K-12 Classroom is in production so...it's time to have a new look to the accompanying blog. The website at https://sites.google.com/site/bevseducationalwebsite/home is also being updated and when you see the "new look" you know it's ready for YOU.
Keep your eye on the blog for updating at least once a week. All the URLs located in my new book will continue to be added to the website as a first priority, as well as new What's New, suggestions for lessons incorporating Web 2.0 and social networking, and new tools that will enhance your lessons.
Stay tuned...

Try social networking
My New Year's resolution is to be more faithful to posting on my blog.
For your New Year's resolution you might consider signing up for some teacher blogs or Twitter posts. They are very informational from new sites you don't have time to find but might find handy to ideas on how to use different technologies. I watched a one-hour Skype demonstration last week that I found quite useful. Try these to start: http://www.teachhub.com/, http://ilearntechnology.com/
You'll see Skype in a chapter of the new book I'm working on now.
